How are my food photos handled?

Your food photos and scan history stay on your device. When you snap a meal, the image is sent over HTTPS to our server, immediately forwarded to an AI provider for nutrition recognition, and not stored. We do not collect your name, email, or location. For details, see our Privacy Policy.

The AI didn't recognize my meal correctly. What can I do?

Open the scan result and tap any ingredient chip to toggle it on or off, or tap "Add" to include common toppings (cheese, bacon, sauce, etc.). The Skin Score recalculates locally each time you toggle — no extra AI call. If the food itself is misread, take another photo from a clearer angle, or scan a different reference (a menu photo also works).

Why did the same meal get a slightly different score this time?

Nutrition values from a single photo are estimates. The AI infers portion size and ingredients from what it can see, and the same meal can be read slightly differently between scans. Your edited ingredients are saved, so each scan stays consistent after you confirm it. We're working on tighter recognition over time.

How is my Skin Score calculated?

Skin Score runs from 0 to 100. Higher is better. The score starts at 100 and deducts based on three axes:

Skin-friendly foods (leafy greens, salmon, berries, green tea) add a Skin Boost back up to 25 points. Tap the "?" next to your score in the app to see the exact formula and which ingredient drove each axis.

Subscription & billing

Do I need Pro to use SpotBite?

Yes — scanning meals requires SpotBite Pro. Each scan uses our AI vision service, which has a real per-request cost. We offer a 7-day free trial so you can try the full app before paying. After the trial, choose annual ($29.99/year) or monthly ($4.99/month). You can cancel anytime during the trial and you will not be charged.

How do I cancel my subscription or free trial?

iOS: Open the Settings app on your iPhone → tap your name at the top → tap Subscriptions → tap SpotBite → tap Cancel Subscription.

Android: Open the Google Play Store → tap your profile icon → tap Payments & subscriptions → tap Subscriptions → tap SpotBite → tap Cancel subscription.

Cancel at least 24 hours before your trial or renewal date to avoid being charged.

I restored to a new device, but Pro isn't unlocked.

Open SpotBite → tap the You tab → tap Restore purchases. You must be signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account that originally purchased the subscription. If the issue persists, email us at support@spotbite.app with your purchase date and we'll help.

How do I request a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple and Google, not by SpotBite directly.

iOS: Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the SpotBite purchase, and request a refund.

Android: Visit the Google Play refund request page, sign in, and select SpotBite.

Is SpotBite medical advice?

No. SpotBite gives lifestyle insight, not medical advice. We do not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. The Skin Score is an estimate based on published nutrition research, not a clinical assessment. If your acne is severe, painful, or scarring, please see a dermatologist.

Can children use SpotBite?

SpotBite is rated 12+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you are under 18, please use SpotBite with a parent or guardian's awareness. For details, see our Privacy Policy.
